They Won't Let Em Slide
The city of San Francisco won't let Johnny Moseley slide down a few tons of imported snow and ice from Pacific Heights to celebrate his 30th birthday after all.
There are a couple of pieces of reaction to this on the aggregator today that I wanted to share with you.
Some things just aren’t meant to be. Icer Air and Pacific Heights, well that’s sort of like Brad and Jennifer. People in Pacific Heights are categorically unsupportive of the idea … the NIMBYism seems to be infectious and rampantly apparent(snip)
Gavin, how about giving the little guy a chance? Sure Potrero Hill isn’t as posh and tony as Pacific Heights, but as Tony Kelly (our neighborhood association president) said on KRON 4 "We’re a can do neighborhood."
Want this event to happen in San Francisco instead of the East Bay? Please reconsider having it hosted in Potrero Hill.
We also want to welcome a new blog to the aggregator today. Bob at the Swing State Project e-mailed me today with his RSS feed which I added to the aggregator (Yes, to everyone who is on the aggregator but not yet on the Blogroll pages, I know I need to get my you know what in gear)
One of Bob's first posts to appear on the aggregator blames Supervisor Michelle Alioto-Pier for cancelling the event.
That Michela would pull a hold-up maneuver is not surprising in the least bit, she is known as the champion of fluff issues. There seems to be no bounds to the lengths Alitio-Pier will go to in her quest to score cheap political points, which makes sense considering she lost and kept losing as a candidate until she was appointed to her seat on the Board of Supervisors.(snip)
While Alioto-Pier lacks the ability to get anything done on the real issues, she excels at making a bid deal out of fluff-issues. And she was successful in her battle against Jonny Moseley. But Michela only won the first round. Which wasn't exactly a win when you consider the extreme financial backlash that could result from Michela's hold-up job.
I have an idea. Maybe they could stack the ice from my 17th floor apartment down Polk Street and end up right in front of City Hall.

Edmonton dominated the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night and the 4-0 margin in Game 6 makes it hard to imagine the Oilers not hoisting hockey's Holy Grail above their heads in less than 48 hours. And it would not come as any shock to see defenseman Chris Pronger, who had another 31-minute night, take the honors for the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP.
